Was ist ein DNS-Server?

Ein DNS-Server ist ein „Telefonbuch des Internets“. Websites liegen auf Servern die über eine einmalige Nummer (IP-Adresse) zu erreichen sind. Wenn also z.B. www.google.de aufgerufen wird, weiß der DNS-Server, dass zu dem Server 8.8.8.8 verbunden werden soll.

Aber warum sollte man einen eigenen DNS-Server haben?

Ein DNS-Server übersetzt nicht nur „Buchstaben in Nummern“, sondern kann auch Inhalte oder ganze Websites blocken.
